Do you sell whole bean or ground coffee?

We currently sell whole bean only. If you don't have a grinder yet, we'd recommend picking up an affordable burr grinder. It's the single biggest upgrade most people can make to their coffee routine.

What brew method works best with your coffees?

All of them. Our coffees are roasted to taste great whether you're using a pour over, drip machine, French press, AeroPress, or espresso setup. We roast on the lighter side to preserve the distinct character of each coffee.

What does the cupping score on your bags mean?

It's a standardized 100-point quality score assessed by trained tasters. All of our coffees score 85 or higher. We explain the full scoring system on our Learn page.

How long does your coffee stay fresh?

Whole bean coffee in a sealed container is best within 6–8 weeks of roasting, depending on the roasting machine. After that time period the coffee is still great, but might lose some brightness and complexity. Before you open the coffee, it will be good for six months from when it was roasted, although we encourage you to enjoy it sooner.

After opening the coffee, you should try to enjoy it within 3 weeks at most.

Do you offer decaf?

Not yet, but it's on our radar. When we do, we'll hold it to the same scoring standards as everything else we sell.

How do you choose your coffees?

We source from established green coffee importers and taste a lot of samples. Every coffee we carry has been cupped and scored, and nothing makes the cut below 85 points. Beyond the score, we're looking for coffees with distinct, interesting character, something that makes you pause and pay attention.

Ordering & Shipping
When do you roast?

We roast in small batches on a regular schedule to keep our inventory fresh.

How long does shipping take?

Most orders ship within 3–5 business days of being placed, depending on where your order falls relative to our roast schedule. We don't roast or ship on weekends or major holidays.

Once shipped from Brooklyn, delivery typically takes 2–5 business days depending on your location. You'll receive a confirmation email with tracking once your order is on its way.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location. All orders ship from Brooklyn, NY.

Do you ship internationally?

Not at this time. We currently ship within the United States only.

Can I pick up my order locally?

We offer local pickup for NYC customers. Select “Local Pickup” at checkout and we'll coordinate from there.

Returns & Issues
What if something is wrong with my order?

If your coffee arrives damaged, or if something about your order isn't right, email us at hello@earnestpursuit.com with your order number. We'll make it right.

Do you accept returns?

Because coffee is a perishable product, we don't accept returns. But if you're unhappy with your order for any reason, get in touch. We'd rather figure it out than leave you stuck with coffee you don't enjoy.
