About Us

There's a first cup that stops every coffee drinker in their tracks. Fruity, bright, nothing like the coffee you grew up on. That moment is why Earnest Pursuit exists. We started this specialty coffee roasting company to give more people that same experience.

The name comes from the phrase "the earnest pursuit of greatness." The earnest part, we mean. The greatness part, much less so. We just hope you enjoy our coffees as much as we do.

Bright. Accessible. Delicious.

That's our sourcing and roasting philosophy,:

• Bright means coffees with real, identifiable flavor. Blueberry, fig, chocolate, hazelnut, not generic "coffee flavor."
• Accessible means great and affordable coffee for everybody, not just people who already speak the language of specialty coffee. Whether you're new to specialty coffee or a longtime cupper, we want our coffee to work for you.
• Delicious means we never lose sight of the obvious fact that the coffee needs to taste good.

How we roast

We roast on a Loring S35 Kestrel at a co-roasting facility in New York. Our aim is to highlight the natural character of the beans, which makes our house roast profile on the lighter side. We are focused on quality, which means we cup a lot and do not send out any coffee that we would not drink ourselves.
