A lot of coffee drinkers have that first cup that stops them in their tracks. I remember the first time I had a coffee that didn't taste like generic coffee. It was fruity, with strawberry and stone fruit. I genuinely didn't know coffee could do that. I was blown away.
I started Earnest Pursuit because I wanted more people to have that moment. That's our sourcing and roasting mission: coffees that are bright, accessible, and delicious. Here's what that means in practice:
-
Bright: Bright means coffees with identifiable flavor profiles. Whether that's blueberry, fig, chocolate, or hazelnut, we source coffees with a strong flavor profile.
-
Accessible: Accessible means great coffee for everybody. It's easy to find cheap coffee, and it's easy to find expensive coffee. What's hard is sourcing coffees that taste great across the experience spectrum, from first-time specialty drinkers to seasoned experts, and are reasonably priced. That's the sweet spot we're after.
-
Delicious: Delicious means just that. This is actually the most important criteria when we are cupping. We only source coffees that we score above 85 points on the Specialty Coffee Association scoring methodology through multiple rounds of cupping. People come back to a coffee because it tastes good. We try to never want to lose sight of that.
That's what we're building at Earnest Pursuit. We hope one of our coffees is your version of that first, amazing sip.
